Product Overview

Life's Pay Checks by John W. Holland, D.D. is a series of sermonettes written by the pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church in St. Paul, MN. From the author's foreword:

"The forty-five chapters which follow contain sermonettes which have appeared from time to time in the columns of the Standard Farm Journal, and other publications.

...In writing these musings, I have studiously avoided the classicisms by which language so often obscures thought, and have kept to the vernacular of common speech. I think of them as little journeys to the hinterland of the heart, and I send them forth with a prayer that they may be to many as the shadow of a great tree upon a summer day. J.W.H., St. Payl, Minnesota"

Published in 1930, this book is good condition. The cloth cover has some rubbing and scuff marks, there is no dust jacket. This is a lovely little volume of allegories as they relate to every day life.
