This copy of Lucy Dunlevy is printed ca. 1856. The cover and pages show evidence of its age and travels, and yet it is a sweet little book that deserves pride of place on your rare book shelf.
The story is of Lucy, born to her family and beloved. Her day-to-day experiences are peppered by her favorite hymns, psalms, and Bible passages. It is a lovely tale of faith and love.
The cloth cover has a lovely embossing pattern on the front and the back. The corners are rubbed and the paperboard underneath the cloth is showing through. The cover on the spine is fraying and coming away at the base, but the pages themselves are securely bound, and except for the brittleness of their age, they are intact.
