The classic tale of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in a compact pocket size book, printed by Thomas Nelson & Sons, Ltd. in 1938. Part of the "Sixpenny Shakespeare" series, this is a lovely little volume that has withstood nearly 90 years in good shape. Edited by A. J.J. Ratcliffe, M.A., it includes an introduction, a scen setting before the play; the play; and a section titled "After the First Reading" that goes over the characters, William Shakespeare, the text, the form, etc. There are also "Questions on A Second Reading" and "Questions on Later Readings".
This edition is in good shape considering its age. Shelf wear, some rubbing on outer spine. Inside front cover is beginning to separate from the block but it is still intact, just needs careful handling. Foxing on book block. See photos.
