Product Overview

Mostly known for his Presidency of the United States of America, Theodore Roosevelt was an avid explorer, hunter, and naturalist. One of his greatest contributions to the portfolio of American Westward expansion was his set of books entitled ‘The Winning of the West’. Comprised of six individual, shorter works, ‘Winning of the West’ is one of the best works on the early American frontier. The titles include:

  • The Spread of English-Speaking Peoples
  • In the Current of the Revolution
  • The War in the North West
  • The Indian Wars - the edition in this sale
  • St. Clair and Wayne
  • Louisiana and Aaron Burr

This edition was printed in 1906 and shows extensive wear on the spine. There is a velvery flocked covering over the spine in which the title was embossed, however over time this flocking has broken down and the title is illegible on the spine. Top of the spine is ragged. The front and back boards are in good shape. The inside pages are straight and intact, and not breaking away from the spine. There are no markings in the interior. The illustrative plates are covered with a sheet of vellum and are truly beautiful. This is an excellent readable copy, or perhaps you need this volume to complete your set. Or start a set!
