Product Overview

We Were There at the Battle for Bataan is a book by Benjamin Appel and Courtney Whitney that provides a personal and detailed account of the battle, based on soldiers' experiences. It describes the Japanese invasion of the Philippines, the fighting on the Bataan peninsula, and the eventual surrender of American and Filipino forces during World War II. The book highlights the sacrifice of those who fought, the impact on survivors, and offers insights into the experiences of soldiers on both sides.

As one of the books in the "We Were There" series published by Grosset & Dunlap, Inc., We Were There at the Battle for Bataan is an important historical fiction novel. Set in the Philippines during WWII, this is the fictional account of two Filipino children who learn to evade the Japanese. The book is good condition, however the dust jacket is tattered and torn in many places. I'm including it, however, as it preserves the art of Irv Docktor and lends to the atmosphere of the story. There are no interior markings. Some scuffing on the bottom of the cloth boards. Overall a very collectible copy.
